Coronavirus Diary Day WTFK: July 21, 2021

Delta Variant, Summer Musings, and 5 Years in Remission (!!)

Today, Ryan is celebrating 5 YEARS IN REMISSION from Hodgkins Lymphoma. I am overwhelmed, ecstatic and otherwise speechless.

Moving on. It's been 2 months since I last posted. Annnnndddd.... Corona is back, kids, so fasten your seatbelts.

I mean, not really. But. The Delta Variant is causing new cases to rise, “breaking through” vaccines, and wreaking havoc on places like Los Angeles County, which recently reinstated mask mandates. Currently, more than 97% of those hospitalized with Coronavirus are the unvaccinated. Being as I received the dreaded double dose back in February and March, I’m assuming I’m good to go. Having said that, The Hubs’ (healthy, young) nephew is sick in bed with confirmed COVID-19, and he was fully vaccinated months ago. So, there you have it.

In France, the powers-that-be tried to impose a strict vaccine passport, where only vaccinated people can enter public places like grocery stores, theaters, museums, and the like. Of course, thousands took to the streets in protest. Without masks.

In the meantime, I’ve been galivanting from Gloucester, Massachusetts to Ocean City, Maryland to Tampa, Florida to Atlantic City, New Jersey to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I’ve visited friends, ate at restaurants, flew on airplanes, sat at bars, shopped at Wegmans, gotten my haircut, and breathed in the sweet smell of freedom, all without wearing a mask. Except for the airplane part, of course. The world is… back to normal?

Guys, I turned 50 last month. I even had a party. Something like 75 or 80 people (who counts?) showed up at my house and allowed me to entertain them for many fabulous hours. The best thing? No one (not one single person!) caught Covid. Although I apparently caught a stripper :/
